Killing Two Birds with One Project

Since I used to be well versed in AutoCad, I have been looking for a reason to use Google's SketchUp offering since it came out. I've also had a hard time deciding which of the hundreds of potential projects I want to tackle from MakeZine would be first. This weekend, I had chance to resolve both issues with a single project. The Make Weekend Project Workbench. It's a very basic 8-footer, easy to make and cost me about $35 total. It's constructed of 1 4x8 sheet of 1/2" plywood, 6 - 2x4's and a box of cabinet joining screws. The design can be modified to suit your needs and level of quality and sturdiness. This one took about 2 hours to cut and assemble.

There are a lot of other options for workbenches in SketchUp's 3D Warehouse.

Next I guess I'll need to paint the walls and floor in my basement.

Cheers...
