GO on the go...

Remember way back when I wanted to learn how to play the 4,000 year old game of GO? (Sure you do). Well, I discovered an article in my Make: vol. 05 that referenced a self-contained, Live Linux-based, bootable CD-ROM image of GO that you can take anywhere and use on any PC that lets you boot from CD. It's called Hikarunix and the name was inspired by the Japanese manga and anime series Hikaru No Go.

The system also lets you play others online if you can maintain an internet connection when the system comes up.

Cheers...

Although a LiveCD is certainly useful, it can be cumbersome if you just want a quick game over lunch. Combining the LiveCD with virtualization software like VMWare or Virtual PC (both of which have free players available now) would allow you to boot a virtual machine off the LiveCD so you can keep your job while you aspire to 9th dan.
