So it's been a while since I updated this blog. A friend of mine said he didn't get the whole blogging thing anyway. He was like "take out the trash, mow the yard, wash the car, update the blog? No thanks." Well, since February the whole fitness thing has taken off for me. I've run 2 5k's, a 10k, a 25k and a sprint triathlon (0.5 mi swim, 18 mi bike, 5 mi run). I've also lowered my cholesterol which was the original goal. Two resources that really helped me get here were the Beginner Triathlete site and Steven Jonas' book, "Triathloning for Ordinary Mortals."
My next goal is to do it all over again this year and add the Chicago Marathon just for kicks. One thing I'm definitely looking into is a new bike for the triathlon. I used a Trek Antelope city bike with smooth tires and averaged 17mph for an 18 mi time of 1:07. I need to up that just a bit to get under 2 hours total. One bike I'm considering is the Jamis road series. They're built with serious suspension to cushion older bones and joints.
