In July 2003, at the urging of my doctor, I took up a regimen of increased exercise, reduced fat and reduced calories. The intended outcome was to of course lower my cholesterol which had climbed above the danger zone. My exercise of choice became running. Runner's World magazine has a great site for anyone interested in participating in this sport. Dr. George Sheehan, a pioneer of the running boom of the 70's, died in 1993 but his children have published selections from his weekly essays on a tribute site to the running doc. They attempt to explain running to those who believe that running is only appropriate "when chasing or when being chased."
